Next year's European Parliament elections will be held between 6 and 9 June 2024, while Belgians will head to the polls to elect local and federal representatives on 9 June.

The European Union confirmed on Wednesday the next European Parliament election dates, which also confirms the date of the Belgian elections.

Since 2014, Belgian law ensures that the country's federal elections are held on the same day as the European Parliament elections.

The dates were chosen by the EU body, the Committee of Permanent Representatives, who determined 6 and 9 June of next year.

The EU announcement confirms that Belgians will go to the polls on Sunday 9 June.
