Local police intercepted a drug deal in Herselt in the Antwerp region on Tuesday, seizing five kilograms of cocaine in the process.

Police also seized €41,300 in cash and confiscated four vehicles. Three suspects have been placed under arrest.

The local police zone was informed on Tuesday of a potential drug deal set to take place in the town centre and decided to investigate the scene. Police officers discovered four suspects in a vacant lot. Two of them, aged 23 and 25 and from Liège, were immediately arrested. Another two suspects fled on foot.

After a brief chase, police managed to catch up with one of the fleeing suspects, a 28-year-old man from the Netherlands. During the chase, the suspect attempted to dump a large sum of cash. A fourth suspect is still on the run from the police.

Investigators found five packages of cocaine in one of the group's vehicles as well as a large stash of money in another.
