Flanders is to inject a further €9 million into the UN Climate Fund, its Minister-President, Geert Bourgeois, announced on Tuesday. “Owing to the increase, we are keeping our promise to release, during this legislature, a total of €58 million to finance climate measures,” he stated.
The region’s contribution to the UN ‘Green Climate Fund’ will thus increase from €25 million to €34 million.
This fund is intended to assist developing countries to cope with the challenges caused by climate change.
