The Charleroi Correctional Court on Monday sentenced a defendant to one year in prison with immediate arrest for inciting an 11-year-old child to debauchery and for threating her.
The man had solicited nude images from the victim and threatened to kill her.
The prosecution had requested a two-year prison sentence for him.
The man, who was tried in absentia, was prosecuted on two counts. In 2019, the victim's aunt reported the defendant’s behaviour to the authorities after discovering messages sent to her niece. “He asked for nude images and even threatened to kill the victim to obtain them,” Me Boris Druart, ad hoc guardian for the minor, had indicated.
At an earlier hearing, the defendant denied the facts, claiming that it was not his account and that he was not the sender of the messages.
