Former Namur town councillor Jean-François Lenoir was detained on Tuesday, after authorities issued an arrest warrant over suspected arson.
Lenoir, who is a member of the PTB labour party, was last week enveloped in a scandal which saw him resign from his position after he publicly insulted fellow town councillor Dorothée Klein, a member of the CDH political group.
Representatives of the PTB had said that Lenoir's comments, which he posted on Facebook, were unacceptable, adding that the former councillor suffered from dissociative identity disorder, according to RTBF.
Sources within the PTB told Sudpresse that Lenoir is currently being held at a Namur prison and that he will appear before a committee on Friday.
