Two Belgian cities, Leuven and Brussels, will jointly host the first edition of the European Running Championships in April 2025.

The first-ever edition of the European Running Championships will take place in Leuven and Brussels from 12 to 13 April 2025. For the first time, all three races – the 10 km, half marathon and full marathon – will take place in the same country at the same time. All races are open to both amateur and professional runners.

"The European Running Championships symbolises my vision of a sport that really is for everyone," said European Athletics President Dobromir Karamarinov.

"Young and old, male and female, fast and slow, big and small, elite and amateur will all compete together and simultaneously in a mass marathon, half marathon and 10 km races, with global and national ranking places on offer."

The races will all finish in the city of Leuven, but only the 10km and half marathon will take place entirely in Leuven. The marathon will start in the heart of Brussels and run from there to Leuven. It ends with a 10 km city loop and finishes at the Park Gate, as was the case during the Cycling World Championships.

In December this year, Belgium will also organise the European Cross Country Championships at Laeken Park in Brussels. Then the countdown will begin for the new European Running Championships in April 2025.
