Over 8,000 Muslims in Belgium gathered at Palais 12 on Wednesday morning to celebrate Eid al-Adha, the most important holiday in the Islamic calendar.
Multiple mosques rented out the indoor arena to accommodate worshippers. Some people even failed to get in due to the high number of people attending.

Eid al-Adha is, with Eid-al-Fitr, one of the largest two holidays for those following the Muslim faith.
The Feast of Sacrifice, as it is also called, takes place exactly two months and one day after the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.
The Feast of Sacrifice celebrates the prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice one of his sons for God's approval, who instead asked him to slaughter a sheep.

The tradition has been ongoing ever since, with Muslims ritually sacrificing a sheep and sharing it with their family before distributing the meat to the poor and vulnerable.
