Police are actively looking for a driver who ran over a six-year-old boy in Schaerbeek and then fled the scene.
The boy was only slightly injured after the accident, which took place on Wednesday evening in the municipality's Rue Dupont, but was taken to the hospital in a state of shock.
"The child had a bump on the head and was in a state of shock," a spokesperson for the Brussels north police zone told Bruzz, adding that the boy was allowed to return to his home later that same night.
Authorities have managed to identify the vehicle, a red Ford Fiesta, and they obtained the plate number, but are still trying to track down the driver.
"An investigation is ongoing in order to identify the driver of the vehicle and to shed a light on the circumstances surrounding the accident," the spokesperson told Sudpresse.
