French mayor Vincent Jeanbrun’s home was targeted in an arson attack on Saturday night.
Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses and spokesperson for the Republican Party in France, confirmed the attack in a now-deleted Twitter post, according to Le Figaro. He stated his wife and children were left shocked and injured.
The assault took place while Jeanbrun was away at the town hall. A mob congregated outside his unsecured residence in Val-de-Marne, where his wife and two children were present.
The mob drove a vehicle into the garden gate and set it ablaze, intending to ignite the mayor’s house.
Jeanbrun’s wife managed to escape with their children. However, she and the children sustained injuries during their flight from the rioters.
They were later taken to a hospital, while the mayor relocated his children to a secure location for the night.
Jeanbrun has expressed his intent to seek justice for the attack.
