“Stop, don’t destroy anything”: Nahel’s grandmother issued a plea for peace on Sunday, following the fifth consecutive night of urban riots triggered by the killing of her 17-year-old grandson by a police officer in Nanterre last Tuesday.

Nadia, Nahel’s grandmother, urged those who were wreaking havoc during an interview on French news channel BFMTV.

“I tell people who are breaking things to stop. They shouldn’t smash windows; they shouldn’t damage schools or buses. Mothers take buses; mothers walk outside – please stop these actions,” she implored.
