For the second year running, a restaurant in Brussels (1000) has been selected as the best gastronomical venue of the Brussels-Capital Region, topping the list of the 2019 edition of the Delta restaurant guide, for which it is set to receive an honorary prize on Monday evening.

The Michelin-starred Hispania Brasserie, located in the high-end Sablon neighbourhood will be awarded the Delta d’Or prize, a prestigious recognition delivered yearly by the Belgian gastronomical restaurant guide.

"It's a great joy as well as a recognition of our commitment to gastronomy," Chef Adrian Mancheno told BX1. "It's the result of the work of our team, who I warmly congratulate," he added.

After a successful three years in London, where it opened in 2013, Hispania Brasserie arrived in Brussels in 2016 with the ambition to be the "the reference for Spanish gastronomy in Belgium and Benelux."

Established in the Place du Grand Sablon alongside some of the city's most renowned antique shops and chocolate makers, together with Chef Mancheno, the Brussels venue's is spearheaded by gastronomical director Marcos Morán, a Michelin-starred chef.

Monday's Delta d'Or will be the latest addition to Hispania's list of prizes, which, among others, include the 2014 Foods of Spain prize, delivered by the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy.

Previous winners of the Delta d'Or include Brussels' Mustapha Duran in 2018, and Brinz'l in 2017, a gourmet restaurant in the municipality of Uccle.
