26% of employed people spend all or almost all of their working time using a computer, or another digital device, the Belgian statistics office Statbel reported on Tuesday.

For these people, all or almost all of their working time is spent on tasks requiring digital skills, notably those carried out using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Telephone calls are not included. This particularly concerns administrative staff (54%) and managers (43%).

Slightly more women (27%) than men (24%) and more employed people with a high level of education (39%) than employed people with a medium (16%) or low (5%) level of education spend their working time using a computer or other digital device. The percentage is lower among 15-24 year olds (13%) than among 25-49 year olds (28%) and 50-74 year olds (24%).

65.3% of people with a low level of education do not work on a screen, compared with just 5% of people with a high level of education.
