The reconstruction of an attack which cost police officer Thomas Monjoie his life in November 2022 will take place this evening in Schaerbeek, Le Soir reports, citing the Federal prosecutor’s office.
The police reconstruction will close traffic on Rue d’Aerschot. The Thomas and Liedts tram stop will not be served.
On 10 November 2022, Monjoie (29) was attacked with a knife at around 19:00 on the street while patrolling with a colleague. The officer succumbed to his injuries and his colleague was injured.
Backup later arrived for the two injured officers. Police shot the attacker, Yassine M., in his arm and leg. The suspect was seriously injured and transported to the hospital where he spent two days. He was charged with murder and attempted murder in the context of terrorism.

Following the attack, it was learned that the suspect had attempted to turn himself into police for psychological health several days prior. He was transferred to a psychiatric unit, where he was present for just a few days.
