Thousands of people have already signed up for an outdoor swim in a natural swimming spot in Brussels this weekend, as part of the first trial swim in the city’s ponds and lakes organised by enthusiasts of an outdoor splash.
As part of a campaign to promote outdoor swimming in the Belgian capital, a campaign backed by public authorities will organise a test swim in the Étang de la Pède, in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht on July 19 and 20.
Even though open-air swimming is not permitted in Brussels, the organisers managed to obtain authorities’ permission and nearly 2,000 people have already signed up for this weekend’s experience, according to BX1.
The number of swimmers inside the pond at a time will be limited, and swimming time will be limited as well.
