The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has issued a severe weather warning from 15:00 this Sunday until 9:00 Monday.

The Ministry of the Interior has decided to temporarily activate the free telephone number 1722 reserved for requests for non-emergency intervention by the fire service.

Heavy rainfall is forecast in several parts of the country with a storm. The MRI warning particularly concerns the provinces of Hainaut, Walloon Brabant, East Flanders, Antwerp, Limburg, Flemish Brabant and Brussels.

As a result of these forecasts, the Interior Ministry is therefore temporarily activating the number 1722, it announced at midday on Sunday. "In the event of storm damage and water damage for which you need fire brigade assistance, you can submit a request via the e-guichet www.1722.be or call 1722. Only call 112 in life-threatening situations," he stresses.

Temperatures will be between 17 and 23 degrees this Sunday afternoon. The weather will be drier and brighter up by the coast.

The atmosphere will become unstable during the day on Monday, before the passage of a final wave of rain during the night from Monday to Tuesday. The warning could therefore be extended and/or affect other provinces, the IRM further states.
