Two young people died in a major accident in the municipality of Tournai in the Walloon province of Hainaut. Two others are still in critical condition in hospital.
"This is no longer a dark series but a real horror film," said Tournai mayor Paul-Olivier Delannois on Facebook. The accident took place in Béclers, a borough of Tournai.
"The accident involved a single vehicle with four young people on board. The toll was catastrophic: two young people died and two others, including a 13-year-old girl, are in critical condition," he said. "I offer my sincere condolences to the families. I am devastated."
This is the second serious accident in just a few weeks; a week and a half ago, a family of five (a couple and their three children) died in Marquain, another borough of Tournai.
