A motorist mowed down two pedestrians on Friday afternoon in Ghent, seriously injuring one of them.
The driver, aged in his thirties, was driving under the influence of alcohol, the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office said on Saturday.
The accident occurred at around 4.30pm in Ham Street.
Interviewed after the incident, the motorist had to take a breathalyser test, which was positive. His driving licence was revoked.
One of the injured remains in hospital.
