A drug dealer accidently picked the wrong car to deliver his drugs when he approached what he thought was his client's vehicle but was in fact an unmarked police car.
The suspect, who had transported a large quantity of drugs from the Netherlands to Adinkerke, near the French border, was supposed to meet up with a dark-coloured vehicle on a small road near the E40 exit.
The Dutchman did approach such a car, but instead ran into police officers in an unmarked vehicle who were investigating human trafficking at the time. They pursued to search the suspect’s vehicle and discovered 30 kilos of cannabis.
The young man admitted that he had to deliver something, but his lawyer made it clear that his client had no idea it was such a large quantity of narcotics.
A one month arrest warrant has been issued to him for importing 30 kilos of cannabis from the Netherlands.
An analysis of the suspect’s mobile phone also revealed that he was involved in arms trafficking. An additional case could therefore be opened against him.
