A drunk man who was causing a disturbance in his block of flats in Namur was attacked with an axe by two of his neighbours on Monday evening, the Namur public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.

The incident took place at around 11 p.m. in a block of flats on Rue du Lombard. Annoyed by the victim’s behaviour, the two ground-floor neighbours confronted him. They then hit him in the face with the back of the axe, without using the sharp side.

The victim was taken to hospital and ended up with a few stitches. The two neighbours, who were also drunk, have been detained pending a decision by the examining magistrate.
