A brawl in a Vilvoorde squat claimed one victim on Monday, Mayor Hans Bonte reported on Tuesday, confirming a report in Laatste Nieuws and Nieuwsblad.
The incident took place late on Monday afternoon in a squat on Kolveniersstraat. Alerted by local residents, the police arrested 14 persons armed with knives and sticks. The law enforcers also found a deceased person in the squat. The man was so badly beaten that he could not be immediately identified.
According to the mayor, several of the individuals questioned are well known to the police.
The building where the events took place belongs to the Catholic Education Authority of Vilvoorde.
