A yellow weather alert was issued on Saturday by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) warning of heavy spells of rain across the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg. Rainfall could reach 25 mm.

The Ministry of the Interior has consequently activated the 1722 emergency assistance portal. This number is intended for people requiring non-emergency assistance from the fire service, such as in the event of water damage.

People needing assistance from the fire brigade can contact 1722 by telephone or via the electronic hotline 1722.be. The FPS Interior reminds the public to make use of this number for a most efficient response and to avoid overloading standard emergency hotlines.

The normal 112 number can still be used to contact emergency services in cases where a life is in danger.
