The British-American singer Florence Welch will not be performing at the Belgian music festival Pukkelpop on Sunday evening due to medical reasons, the organisation announced on Friday.

Florence + The Machine was initially scheduled for Sunday evening, but announced through her management that she "unfortunately" cannot be present at Pukkelpop.

"Sadly, upon medical advice, Florence + The Machine will not be able to perform at Lowlands and Pukkelpop this weekend. We appreciate your understanding and patience," her management announced.

It was no easy task to replace an artist of this calibre so short in advance, said Frederik Luyten, spokesperson for Pukkelpop. "But Balthazar – whose members announced their temporary farewell barely a week ago – is therefore back on the stage a little earlier than expected," he said.

"The Pukkelpop family wishes Florence a speedy recovery and we hope to welcome her back to Hasselt soon," Luyten added.

The Belgian indie rock group will perform on Sunday from 20:15 to 21:30 on Pukkelpop's Main Stage. The festival is completely sold out.
