Télé-Secours ASBL, a home health care service in Brussels for elderly individuals seeking to live independently, is celebrating 35 years of dedication to improving the lives of seniors.
Through an advanced telecare system, Télé-Secours provides reassurance to seniors and their families, fostering longer lives at home instead of at nursing homes.
Télé-Secours was founded in 1987, establishing itself as a non-profit committed to enabling seniors to live at home securely. Central to their service is a pendant-style device worn around the neck, connecting users directly to a 24/7 call centre with a simple press. The service is designed to give peace of mind to its 20,000 subscribers and their families.
Télé-Secours's team of 50 employees answer nearly a thousand daily calls each day. Call outs range fr0m administrative and technical issues, and even occasionally emergencies like break-ins.
Axel De Roover, director of the company, summarized the purpose of Télé-Secours and its product in a recent RTBF article: sustaining autonomy at home through a compact unit linked to a pendant.
Despite offering subscription plans priced between €15 and €25 per month, Télé-Secours acknowledges the need for more public funding. Belgium's technological progress contrasts with this funding gap, as mutual aid societies also offer similar services for independent living.
