Gueuze, lambic, IPA, pils or stout, craft beer will be in the spotlight at the 5th edition of BXLBeerFest, to be held on 30 September and 1 October at Tour & Taxis, just a stone’s throw from the EAT culinary festival at the Gare Maritime from 28 September to 1 October.
Together, the two festivals will build bridges between brewhouses and kitchens.
Some sixty breweries from around the world will be showcasing their finest beers over two days at the BXLBeerFest. In all, visitors will be able to choose from over 300 beers. On the Belgian side, the Cantillon brewery, Brouwerij d’Oude Maalderij, Hof ten Dormaal, Gueuzerie Tilquin and Brasserie de Blaugies will all be present.
“BXLBeerFest focuses on small craft breweries. We want to share with our visitors the passion that drives these breweries, the passion for authentic beers,” the organisers explain.
Private events to get to know the brewers and their beers are on the programme and a bottle shop will be set up on site to allow visitors to take away some hoppy and malty souvenirs. A separate area will also play host to Brussels-based artisans and a few foodrucks will be setting up their stoves around Shed-1.
New this year is the collaboration between BXLBeerFest and the EAT festival. A selection of Brussels beers will thus be available at the culinary event, and visitors who buy a ticket for BXLBeerFest will receive a discount on the price of the ticket for EAT and vice versa. The outdoor terrace will act as a link between the two festivals.
Under cover in the Gare Maritime, 65 chefs, patissiers, cheesemakers and artisans will delight the taste buds of food lovers. The event will also host the famous Brussels Competition for the best prawn croquette on Sunday.
