The Council of Ministers took another step in the renovation of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts (KMSK) in Brussels and allocated over €30 million for this purpose. This is the final phase of the renovation.
In recent years, the Auditorium, as well as several exhibition halls and roofs of the KMSK were given a new coat of paint. Now, the studies for the remaining phases are being launched, Belga News Agency reports.
These concern the top two floors and the roof of the 'Extensions' building on the Place du Musée and the renovation of the entrance hall, the roof, the roof domes, the ceiling structures under the domes of the building and the exhibition rooms in the 'Balat' building on Rue de la Régence.

The €30 million comes from the Régie des Bâtiments through the relance plan, with €5.5 million also co-financed by Beliris, the cooperation between the Federal Government and Brussels with the aim of boosting the image of the Belgian capital.
The KMSK will remain fully accessible to the public during the study phase and while work is underway on the first of the three remaining phases. Only the Fin-de-Siècle Museum will be temporarily closed from 8 January 2024 as the space will be used to store the collections during the works.
