Former French domestic intelligence boss Bernard Squarcini is to stand trial in Paris on charges including influence peddling, French news agency AFP learned on Tuesday from a source close to the case.
Squarcini is suspected of illegally using his networks to obtain confidential information for private interests, mainly for luxury giant LVMH.
He is also accused of misappropriating public funds and compromising the secrecy of national defence, among other charges.
In an order dated 1 September that AFP has seen, two investigating judges also ordered the indictment of 10 other people, including an ex-magistrate, a prefect, former top policemen and consultants who allegedly responded to requests from Squarcini.
