Cars will not be welcome in Antwerp city centre on Sunday 17 September, to mark the 21st edition of 'Antwerp Shift'.

Cyclists and pedestrians will have more space that day, and the city will be giving visitors the chance to try out many new sustainable means of transport.

The car-free zone is located in the area between Amsterdamstraat and Londenstraat, de Leien, Kasteelpleinstraat and Kronenburgstraat, and the Scheldt quays. The docks themselves are also part of the zone. People who post a selfie with their sustainable means of transport at the Steenplein stand will receive a gift signed by cyclist Victor Campenaerts, ambassador for the 'Slim naar Antwerpen' mobility project.

This year, 'Antwerp Shift' will also offer a mobility information programme, a test track for means of transport and discounts from 29 mobility service providers.

Games and competitions will be organised on the Groenplaats, skybikes will be on display in the Grote Markt and walking and cycling tours will be organised through and around the city. Residents of the car-free zone will also be able to set up a flea market on their doorstep.
