A four-year-old boy has died following an accident in Ostend on Saturday, the West Flanders Public Prosecutor's Office (Bruges division) reported on Tuesday.
The victim reportedly lost control of an electric quad bike.
A German family was on holiday in Ostend when the parents decided to hire a small electric quad bike for their four-year-old son. The child was driving the quad on the dyke, but was not in control of the vehicle. The father of the family therefore tried to intervene, but stumbled and ended falling on top of his child.
Emergency services were rushed to the scene to administer first aid to the little boy. He was transferred to hospital and eventually succumbed to his injuries.
