The lifeless body of a 41-year-old woman was discovered on Saturday around 5pm in an apartment in Mechelen.
An investigation has been opened, with the death being treated as suspicious. The occupant of the apartment was taken away by the police for questioning, according to the Antwerp Public Prosecution Office.
A forensic doctor arrived at the scene and suspicious elements were discovered during the initial findings, triggering the start of a murder inquiry.
“The autopsy will take place on Sunday. A suspect, specifically the occupant of the premises, has been taken away by the police for questioning”, the Public Prosecution Office added.
