Works will take place on a western section of the Brussels inner ring road between Halle and the exit of the E40 towards Ghent. Due to last three weeks, traffic disruption is expected to be limited.
Starting from Friday evening on 6 October, the loop on the Brussels inner ring road from Halle to the E40 towards Ghent will be closed at various times, the Agency for Roads and Traffic announced on Tuesday. The works will renew the joints of the second bridge that traffic passes in that direction. A new layer of asphalt will then be laid.
If all goes well, the work will be finished by 22:00 on Sunday 22 October.

On three consecutive weekends, work will take place from Friday 22:00 to Monday 05:00. On weekdays, the contractor will only work at night, from 22:00 to 05:00, meaning there will be no disruption to traffic during the day when the roads are at their busiest.
Traffic taking the route during the works will have to take a short diversion via Asse. There it can make a U-turn at the slip road complex and take the exit to the E40 via the E19.
During weekdays, daytime traffic can use the loop towards E40 Ostend/Ghent. Concrete slabs will be laid over the renewed joints to make sure cars can pass.
In the coming years, the R0 ring road around Brussels will be completely redesigned to decrease traffic jams and accidents and minimise cut-through traffic in the surrounding cities and municipalities.
