An area of rain will rapidly move across Belgium from west to east on Tuesday, according to the IRM weather forecast.
This will be followed by showers of rain that are heavy and stormy at times. In other words, you will need your umbrella throughout the day.
Locally, cumulative rainfall could reach 20 to 30 litres per square metre in the intense downpours. The mercury will touch 15 to 19 degrees in a moderate to fairly strong wind. Gusts could reach 60 km/h.
On Tuesday evening and overnight, cloud cover will remain patchy to heavy, with rain or showers. Occasional thunder cannot be ruled out. The temperature will reach 10 to 14 degrees in a still moderate wind.
The area of rain will clear Belgium on Wednesday and the weather will rapidly become dryer. There will be sunny spells interspersed with periods of cloud.
The return of dry weather will nonetheless herald the arrival of arctic air and a general lowering of temperatures. These will not exceed 10 to 14 degrees in a wind that will remain moderate and be quite strong at times along the coast.
It will be time to don scarves and overcoats on Thursday, with 9 to 14 degrees forecast. It will be generally dry with sunny periods but a belt of showers could develop in the north-east of the country.
A sluggish area of rain will pass over Belgium from the Coast heading for the Ardennes over the course of the following night.
