The Liège Public Prosecutor requested a five-year prison sentence against a former school supervisor before the correctional court on Friday. The man has been prosecuted for encouraging teenage girls to send him nude photos using a fake Facebook account.
The 40-year-old had created a fake Facebook account and disguised himself as a younger man, displaying a photo of an 18-year-old teenager on his profile. Since 2016, he had been approaching teenage girls and establishing relationships with them. Three girls aged between 14 and 18 had engaged in passionate conversations and agreed to send him nude photos.
The accused was unmasked in 2018 by one of the victims, with whom he had agreed to go on a date. The fake young man did not appear at the date, but the girl nevertheless identified the defendant as she recognised his shoes, which were identical to those in a photo on the man's Facebook account.
The defendant is responding to prevention of debauchery and possession of illegal images of naked young girls. The prosecution has requested a five-year prison sentence with partial probation and a ban on associating with minors.
Despite a concerning report that assesses a high risk of reoffending, the defence has requested a probationary suspension.
Judgement will be handed down on 27 October.
