A member of the Ghent Brothers of Charity has taken his own life a week after being questioned about alleged sexual abuse of at least one minor, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.
The Ghent public prosecutor's office had opened an investigation into the 66-year-old following complaints. "There are two complaints of transgressive behaviour. The facts date back to the early 2000s," Veron Raed of the Brotherhood confirmed, and to whom the deceased had confessed.
The victim had found the courage to lodge a complaint after the broadcast of the "Godvergeten" series on VRT.
