A hacker has managed to steal personal data of some 128,000 users of the Redlights website, a Belgian portal where prostitutes offer their services.
The hacker is threatening to sell the data on the dark web, according to Link Media, the company that runs the hacked site.
"The hacker exploited a bug in the site's coding to steal the data. Once the flaw was discovered, we immediately plugged it. But unfortunately, the damage had already been done," the company confirmed.
The Federal Police's Computer Crime Unit (CCU) and the Public Prosecutor's Office are currently working to catch the hacker, Link Media said.
Meanwhile, the company is advising all its users and advertisers to change their logins and passwords.
