Train traffic was disrupted on Tuesday evening between Brussels and Ghent following a collision at Erpe-Mere, rail network operator Infrabel said.
No trains were able to run between Brussels and Ghent on Line 50A, the high-speed line linking the two cities.
“Trains are being diverted as far as possible via line 50,” Infrabel spokesman Thomas Baeken explained. This is the classic line between Brussels and Ghent, with the duration of the journey increased by half an hour.
SNCB warned users on X, formerly Twitter, of the “major delays and cancellations” caused by the incident.
