A 25-year-old man was killed on Wednesday evening in Zwijndrecht (Antwerp province), when his car collided head-on with a De Lijn bus, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Thursday.
The driver probably lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, and the bus driver was unable to avoid him.
Several passengers were on board the bus, which was travelling in the direction of Antwerp. Flemish public transport network De Lijn has stated that none of the passengers were injured.
The Public Prosecutor has appointed a traffic expert to assess the exact circumstances of the accident.
