United Kingdom: At least 1,600 arrested in week-long drug bust

More than 1,600 suspects have been arrested in a week-long operation against drug gangs in England and Wales, the British Home Office announced on Thursday.

Police seized drugs worth several million euros, 1.2 million pounds (€1.38 million) in cash, hundreds of bladed weapons and dozens of firearms, the Home Office said.

At least 700 victims, including 58 minors, have been taken to safety.

The gangs, known as ‘county lines,’ take drugs from the cities to rural areas. They regularly use minors for their deliveries, and the homes of needy people as warehouses.
