A fire partially destroyed a school in Frameries, Wallonia, overnight between Friday and Saturday; classrooms were unaffected.
In the early hours of Saturday, around 4:00 am, neighbours raised the alarm, reports revealed the fire had damaged part of the building used as the dining hall.
According to acting Mayor Arnaud Malou, two homeless individuals were arrested at the scene, suspected of starting the fire. The Federal Police’s forensic lab was sent to gather potential evidence to identify the culprits.
The local council has secured the site for now, and is considering alternative arrangements for meals, ready for the start of term on November 6.
