Eight homes in Tubize were flooded due to work carried out by the Walloon Water Company (SWDE) on Sunday morning, according to the Walloon Brabant rescue zone.

Walloon Brabant firefighters were called to a residence on Boulevard Georges Deryck in Tubize at around 09:00 on Sunday. The household's basement was flooded due to a technical issue encountered by the SWDE crew at their roadwork site.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found basements in seven other buildings similarly affected.

"Connection works on the gas network were also underway, and holes had been dug in the basements where water could then infiltrate," the firefighters detailed.

Pumping operations were concluded by late Sunday morning.
