There’s a new downtown in town!

Introducing BXNord: Not just a name, but a new narrative for Brussels' North District and a call to young, bold, innovative minds across Europe for a unique urban rendezvous.

There’s a new downtown in town!

The North district of Brussels is undergoing a major transformation.

As part of a series of large property projects involving the district's main property players (AG Real Estate, Atenor, Befimmo, Cores, Immobel, etc.), the non-profit association Up4 North has taken the initiative, with the support of the Brussels region, to launch a major project to reposition the district and make it the new “place to be” for the young, bold and creative Europeans.

For almost a year, the district's stakeholders have been drawing a new strategy that combines image and branding with local communities’ perceptions and expectations.

Let’s take a look at the new “Quartier Nord”...

A new story to tell to make it happen.

European cities need new ideas. Talents need new perspectives. It’s time to be bold and creative. Time to invent new urban models and explore better ways of living, working and sharing inside western-minded capitals.

Let’s build places that unleash creativity and inspire.

Let’s invent a greener and more human day-to-day life with less transport and more time and space for those we love.

Let’s gather artists and retailers, businessmen and families, young talents, old tenants, future generations…

Let’s transform business quarters and towers into unseen multifunctional experiences for living, working, shopping or visiting. Let’s overcome boundaries so we make it happen together. Because in the end, we all aim for a place to feel like home. Something perfectly imperfect to be yourself. Somewhere to dare to be yourself. Off-track. Open-minded. Constantly in motion.

That’s how extra-ordinary places make extra-ordinary people.

So, lets make it extra-ordinary.

From Quartier Nord to BXNord

We’re not changing the name of the district. We are regenerating it.

You will still arrive at the Gare du Nord. You can still use the “Quartier Nord” name if you’re used to it.

BXNord is a wider area, extending from Gare du Nord over the Canal and the Ferme Maximilien to Tour & Taxi and over the railways to the rue de Brabant and the place Saint-Lazare. And going from the Place Gaucheret to the Place Rogier.

BXNord offers a brand-new way of talking, writing and communicating about this area.

“BX” is a cool, digital-inspired way of saying “This thing is happening in BX, this thing is happening in Brussels”.

BXNord is a short, easy-to-remember name. You can even try “BXN” if you like.

BXNord is a message to the young, bold and innovative people we want to bring here from all over Europe.

To create new businesses. To nourish an intense alternative, cultural and artistic life. Day & night.

It is a way to put clichés on the side and focus on what’s creative and attractive here.

Because let’s be honest: what is happening here now and for the coming years IS extra-ordinary.

Open to all, but above all to local people: families, retailers, businessmen, young talents, old tenants, future generations...

Local communities as well as innovators and investors are all game changers for the project. They are all part of a unique journey. Together, they are inventing a new way of life in the heart of Brussels where one can work, live and share extra-ordinary moments in a walking distance quarter, in a greener area, between the Gare du Nord, the Canal and its cultural diversity and creativity.

They are the face of what transforms and mutates in BXNord. They make it happen. They make it extra-ordinary and they make it now.

This district is also made for future workers and inhabitants: talent & recent graduates, Brussels residents, start-up & other international companies.

Being here is being where it happens.

5 extraordinary things about BXNord

  1. Car garage reloaded

The Kanal Museum (over 16.500 m2) is a genuine art-deco cathedral, with its huge skylight. Well, it used to be a Citroën garage and the biggest gas-station in Europe. It is now a trendsetting museum.

  1. Once a train station… Now a temple of good times.

Tour & Taxi was once a rail station and one of the first multimodal nodes in Europe. It is now one of the areas must-see places. It is now a unique complex of buildings in Brussels where art and design meet innovation, with a delicious food-court, home to bars, a market, terrasses and small shops. Right by the Canal.

  1. Business district for the future generations

With over 1.200.000 m2 offices and workplaces, BXN hosts Belgium’s second largest business district and digital hub. It is a unique urban experience  apartments, offices, hotel and shops, trees in the lobby, rooftop with a view, street art at the corner. It is a highly innovative project as much for its architecture as for its design and respect for the environment, notably in terms of energy near-neutrality and circularity. Here, we are inventing a brand-new way of making business districts… The “vertical way”.

  1. A sea-port in Brussels?

Well, yes! BXNord displays the most “innerside” seaport of all Western Europe and one of the closest to a city center. Operating on a canal that is 500 years old and offers you stunning views of the city. Try one of our cruises, straight towards downtown Brussels, for a nice apéro.

  1. A new way of moving

With over thousands flats or houses and more than 15.000 inhabitants, BXNord is a truly new “downtown in town”. You can live, work, shop, run, meet, party like nowhere else in Brussels. Forget about using your car every day. Forget about traffic. Live 10 minutes from work. Or come via one of Belgium’s busiest train stations. Forget your bag and take it back in 5 minutes by bike. Extra-ordinary, isn’t it?
