The price of gold increased sharply on Tuesday, crossing the $2,000 threshold.
On the London Stock Exchange, the precious metal was selling during afternoon trading for $2,005 per troy ounce (equivalent to about 31.1 grammes), an increase of $27 from just a day earlier.
This marks the highest gold price since late October and reflects a surge of $70 within a little over a week.
The value of the precious metal is edging closer to its all-time high of $2,075 per troy ounce, recorded in Summer 2020.
