Delays in credit and property deals could occur due to technical glitches at Belgium's finance department, SPF Finance, according to the Royal Federation of Belgian Notaries, Fednot.
Technical issues that have plagued SPF Finance since 6 November are causing significant hold-ups in the processing of mortgage documents, Fednot said.
As a result, public notary offices are forced to delay some property and credit transactions to ensure legal safeguards for their customers.
The federation is holding talks with SPF Finance and anticipates possible delays. Should these occur, notaries will keep their clients informed.
Fednot has not obtained precise information regarding when the technical issues will be fully resolved.
