A Belgian citizen has been arrested in the West Bank by the Israeli authorities, a spokesperson for the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.
The spokesperson added that the Belgian Embassy in Tel Aviv is "closely monitoring the situation and communicating with the Israeli authorities".
According to the Jerusalem Post, the person was arrested on suspicion of damaging state symbols and supporting Hamas.

VRT has since reported that the individual is a 42-year-old woman who was arrested in Hebron. Her lawyer has informed the outlet that he expects his client to be deported from Israel within the next few days.
De Standaard has largely corroborated VRT's account but claims that the individual is a man.
