The Dutch edition of a new book about the British royal family has been temporarily withdrawn from sale after it reportedly accidentally revealed who among the ‘royals’ had questioned the potential skin colour of Harry and Meghan’s unborn child.
Xander Publishing has issued a statement confirming it was temporarily withdrawing 'Eindstrijd,' the Dutch version of 'Endgame' written by Omid Scobie. "An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified," the publishers said.
The book was released in the UK on Tuesday and a French version is expected to be launched on Friday.
According to UK press, the Dutch edition inadvertently disclosed the identity of the ‘royal’ who sparked accusations of racism and exacerbated the divide between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the family.
Last year, Meghan, whose mother is Black while her father is white, informed US chat show host Oprah Winfrey that a family member had wondered how dark the skin of her future baby might be.
Prince Charles, now king, refuted rumours linking him to this inquiry, and his son Prince William affirmed that the family was “really not racist.”
Harry himself saw the comment more as a sign of prejudice than racism.
However, the issue was reportedly a bombshell among the Windsors.
The Sunday Times reported that it was agreed that Harry and Meghan would no longer discuss the issue, neither in the Netflix series dedicated to them last year nor in the prince’s autobiography.
