The tallest building in Belgium, the Midi Tower is currently occupied by the office for pensions. Built in the 1960s, it was a unique and quite daring construction supported by a single pillar, like a tree trunk.
You might not notice it as you rush for your train, but it’s worth taking a look at the fountain that decorates the side wall of the tower. It was designed in 1962 by the sculptor Jacques Moeschal. The fountain is supplied with used water from the building’s heating system.
A second fountain, less prominent, decorates the rear of the building.
