Brussels Airlines' technicians are expressing dissatisfaction with their working conditions, just like its cabin crew and pilots.
According to representatives of the ACV Puls/CNE and BBTK/Setca trade unions, plans are underway to request conciliation as early as Tuesday.
Permanent secretary of the socialist trade union, Olivier Van Camp, raised the alarm about growing discontent among staff. He mentioned that these technicians might become the third group to consider a strike warning: "Technicians will submit a request for conciliation on Tuesday."
Representative of the Christian trade union ACV Puls Jolinde Defieuw has noted increasing tension: "According to a survey among personnel, a significant number is prepared to take action if conciliation attempts fail. A strike notice might follow in the second instance."
The airline has already averted two strikes in December. In each instance, Brussels Airlines' management presented a proposal. Although the union was successful in reaching an agreement concerning the pilots, negotiations with the cabin crew are proving more challenging. According to Van Camp, considerable time will be needed to achieve an agreement.
