The eighth edition of Brussels’ prestigious BANAD Festival will celebrate Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture from 9 to 24 March 2024, Explore.Brussels announced.
The festival, spread over three weekends, will offer architecture enthusiasts unique access to interiors usually closed to the public. Attendees will be able to tour the city’s streets, marvel at the Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings in the Region, participate in inclusive activities and conferences, and visit the Restorers and Experts’ Fair.
Four categories of interiors can be visited: the ‘Essential’ (a must-see), the ‘Classic,’ (regularly accessible but not viewed from an architectural perspective), the 'New,’ (never before opened to the BANAD public), and the ‘Previously New’ (new features from previous years, reinstated this year).
In this eighth edition, the Roosenboom, Danckaert, and Van den Broeck houses will be accessible to the public for the first time.
The Solvay, Tassel, Otlet, Hallet, Cohn-Donnay hotels, Saint-Cyr and Cauchie houses, Empain villa, Résidence Palace, Old England, and the former workshops of master glassmaker Colpaert, as well as the Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Saint-Augustin churches will all organise visits.
The festival will also feature the opening of the famous Human Passions Pavilion by Victor Horta at the Cinquantenaire, along with the discovery of at least five Art Nouveau and Art Deco schools.
Tickets will be available from 6 February at www.banad.brussels, where the full programme will be posted on 15 January.
