The television series 'Knokke Off' has already become a phenomenon in Flanders and the Netherlands. But now it has also found worldwide success on streaming platform Netflix, with the series making it into the platform's global top five.

The series, produced by the Flemish public broadcaster VRT, has been a massive success in Flanders since its launch in May: with 7.7 million views, 'Knokke Off' is the best-watched VRT series on its online platform MAX.

The fictional series tells the story of a wealthy group of twentysomethings experiencing a seemingly carefree summer in the Flemish coastal town of Knokke, known for its extravagant parties and lavish beach clubs. But their summer soon takes a darker turn.

Since its global launch, the series entered the top ten in its first week and has now secured a spot at number five. Viewers are binging the series in seven languages (it has been dubbed into English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian and Polish), under the English-language title 'High Tides.' In subtitles, it is available in just about every language.

The series is also in the top ten in 43 countries, including Argentina, Spain, France, Colombia, Kenya and Canada.

One of the series writers, Luk Wyns, already commented on the success on Instagram: "Second week in the Global Top 10 on Netflix. The second season is being written now."
