A man was killed on Sunday in Kessel-Lo, Leuven, but his assailant is yet to be identified, Leuven’s public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.
“On Sunday, 24 December 2023, around 3:45 pm, a woman contacted the local Leuven police after discovering her 43-year-old boyfriend’s body in their Edelzangerslaan apartment in Kessel-Lo,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
Police promptly arrived on the scene, but could only confirm the death.
Given the suspicious circumstances of the man's death, federal judicial police and a forensic medical laboratory were called to the scene. A forensic doctor was also appointed by the prosecutor’s office.
Investigations revealed that the man had indeed been violently killed.
An autopsy of the victim was scheduled for 27 December.
