Half a million workers in sectors covered by Belgium's Joint Committee 200 (JC 200) will see their salaries rise by 1.48% from January due to automatic indexing.

The upcoming indexation is way below January 2023’s record-breaking increase of 11.08%, as well as the automatic 3.58% payrise in January 2022. Both years were characterised by high inflation.

JC 200, the largest cluster of its kind in the country, encompasses about 30 sectors, including automotive trade, the concrete industry, construction firms, garages, wholesale trade, and temporary employment agencies.

The 1.48% salary indexation will also be applied in the food trade and real estate management sectors. International trade employees will benefit from a 1.13% indexation, and staff in the insurance sector are to receive an automatic increase of 1.1325%.

The five largest joint committees in the country, all indexing in January, represent over a million employees and more than 120,000 employers, according to HR service provider SD Worx.
